2023 Career Technical Education Scholarship Recipients with Sandpoint Rotary members

The Career Technical Education Center (CTEC) of North Idaho is a proposed initiative to provide rural students in Bonner and Boundary Counties with access to robust Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. The center will be modeled after the successful KTEC program, offering students hands-on learning and industry-relevant education to increase graduation rates and prepare them for high-demand jobs in the region.

The Vision

CTEC will serve students from three districts—West Bonner County, Boundary County, and Lake Pend Oreille School District. It will be located in Ponderay, with funding from the ICRS grant for Phase 1 and local funds for subsequent phases.

Our Commitment

The Rotary Club of Sandpoint sees the value that this program will provide to our community and is raising funds to augment the North Idaho CTEC efforts. This project addresses the region's workforce needs and provides essential opportunities for students, businesses, and the community.

About the Career Technical Education Center

The Career Technical Education Center (CTEC) of North Idaho is a collaborative initiative designed to provide high-quality, industry-relevant education to students in Bonner and Boundary Counties. The program focuses on providing hands-on training in high-demand fields, preparing students for successful careers right after high school or for further education.

Learn professional cooking techniques, food safety, menu planning, and restaurant management skills.

Business Administration

Develop skills in business management, marketing, accounting, and entrepreneurship.

3D Design & CAD

Master computer-aided design software and 3D modeling for engineering and architectural applications.

Journalism

Learn reporting, writing, editing, and digital media production for modern journalism careers.

Health Occupations

Prepare for careers in healthcare through clinical skills training and medical knowledge development.

Computer Network Support

Train in network configuration, cybersecurity, troubleshooting, and IT infrastructure management.

Welding

Master various welding techniques, blueprint reading, and metal fabrication skills.

Residential Carpentry

Learn framing, finishing, cabinetry, and construction techniques for residential buildings.

Electrical

Develop skills in electrical installation, wiring, troubleshooting, and code compliance.

Plumbing

Train in pipe fitting, fixture installation, water systems, and plumbing code requirements.

HVAC

Learn heating, ventilation, air conditioning installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.

Auto Mechanics

Master automotive diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and modern vehicle technology.

CTE Scholarship Application

ROTARY OF SANDPOINT CTE

Sandpoint Rotary CTE provides scholarships to assist promising and deserving community citizens in realizing their career training goals. We strive to maximize impact in the community by recognizing students and young adults who practice Rotary values in their personal lives and exemplify the goal of Rotary, 'Service Above Self' through volunteerism and personal development.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Graduates of Sandpoint High School, Clark Fork High, Forrest Bird Charter School, Lake Pend Oreille Alternative High and Home School Academy, age 30 and under.
  2. Post-secondary education must result in a certification or license within 2 years (except for a qualifying journeyman program that exceeds two years).

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

Print on normal printer paper (not thick fancy paper). Place all items into a clear project folder in the exact order as listed below.

  • Sandpoint Rotary CTE cover page
  • Common Scholarship Application (including 2 page essay)
  • Transcript, There is NO minimum GPA requirement
  • Recommendation #1 from a teacher or other school official (no family member or peers)
  • Recommendation #2 from a community member (e.g. employer, youth pastor, coach, volunteer organizer)- no family members or peers.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

SHS, CFHS, LPOHS: Drop off at your school's counseling center by April 10th at 9:00 AM

If April 10th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, scholarships will be due by 9:00am the following Monday.

All Others: Please use the upload box below to submit your complete application packet. If you experience any technical issues with the upload, email your complete packet to info@sandpointrotaryscholarships.org with a note explaining that the upload failed.
